Västerås Sinfonietta Saxophone concert and Audience Symphony, Västerås Konserthus, Västerås, Sweden - 25/1/18 @ 19:00

Kopparbergsvägen 1, 721 09 Västerås, Sweden

Jörgen Dafgård has great success with his music, both at home and abroad. In 2013 he was the spring composer of the Berwald Hall. The Soprano Saxophone concert, commissioned by Sinfoniettan, is described by him as a trip in three stages, which, after an initial adversity, leads to hopefulness and finally regeneration, a feeling that everything is possible. It is written for Anders Paulsson, a world star on his instrument. Since his 1992 debut in Carnegie Hall, he has appeared in some 25 countries. With Sinfonietta he last performed in 2000 when he made a cd with Sinfoniettan of a concerto by Fredrik Högberg. What is the best symphony ever written? Perhaps an impossible question but in a survey of 150 conductors, Beethoven's Eroica received most votes. His ninth came second. However, they are not on our wish list, but there is nothing wrong with the selection there either.
